Lodi man convicted of supporting terrorist

LA Times:

In a case cited by America's top intelligence official as an example of a "homegrown jihadist cell," a federal jury today convicted a Lodi man on terrorism charges.

Hamid Hayat, 23, was found guilty on one count of providing material support to terrorists by attending a training camp in Pakistan in late 2003 and three counts of lying about it to the FBI.

Earlier, the case against his father, Umer Hayat, 48, a Lodi ice cream truck driver, ended in a mistrial when a separate jury couldn't reach a verdict on whether he lied to the FBI about his son's alleged training.

The case shows the difficulty the enemy has in infiltrating into the US and in the case of the father, the goverment's difficulty using the lawfare approach to fighting people it believes are helping the terrorist.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014.
