Islamist at gates of Somali port

BBC:

Islamist fighters have reportedly advanced to the outskirts of Kismayo, the only port outside their control in central and southern Somalia.

Residents say the local militia withdrew in 40 trucks without a shot being fired as fighters loyal to the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) arrived.

Thousands of people are reported to have fled the city in recent days.

The UIC had said it will occupy Kismayo to stop a foreign peacekeeping force using it as a bridgehead.

The UIC has steadily increased its hold on Somalia since its fighters took control of the capital, Mogadishu, in June, taking control of hundreds of square kilometres of territory while hardly firing a shot.

The country's transitional government is confined to a single town, Baidoa, and its president was the victim of a recent assassination attempt.

However, it remains recognised internationally as Somalia's sovereign authority and has refused to share power with the UIC, despite encouragement from the Arab League.

These Somali Islamist will eventually have to be destroyed before they give sancuary to other terrorist. They are already terrorizing the people in the are they control in a fashion similar to the way the Taliban brutalized the Afghans. These guys even hate soccer.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014.
