Rudy nails Democrats

AP/Examiner:

At a crowded campaign stop at a Dallas restaurant specializing in hot dogs and frozen custard, Giuliani began his remarks with a shot at former Sen. John Edwards' proposal to raise the top tax rate on long-term capital gains to 28 percent.

"This is a Democratic program to drive businesses and jobs out of the United States of America," Giuliani said to loud applause. "Capital gains are realized by a lot of middle class people who have investments in mutual funds. This is a tax on everybody."

...

Sen. Barack Obama's offer earlier this week to meet with leaders of renegade nations such as Cuba, North Korea and Iran also received Giuliani's scorn. The former New York City mayor called the proposal "a terrible mistake."

"You achieve peace through strength," Giuliani said. "Fidel Castro is a dictator and he is a murderer. He should not be visiting with U.S. presidents."

Giuliani portrayed congressional Democrats as weak on defense, sarcastically suggesting they have succeeded on just two fronts - inserting earmarks into bills and issuing subpoenas to members of President Bush's administration.

Giuliani sidestepped a question on whether embattled Attorney General Alberto Gonzales should resign, saying the case has been distorted by partisanship in Washington.

"I think in the last six months it is quite possible the Democrats in Congress have set a record for subpoenas," he said.

...

One of the reasons I like Rudy is his willingness to attack the idiocy of the Democrats in Washington. We need more of that and we need it to get more media attention.
