Trump impeaches his media critics

Washington Post:
Trump calls for Post journalist who apologized for inaccurate tweet to be fired

Political reporter David Weigel apologized for a now-deleted tweet that showed many empty seats at the president’s rally Friday in Florida.
I suspect Trump is making a point about the media's attempt to help the Democrats with their ill-founded impeachment/coup attempt against him.  Those who are trying to make him lose his job as President should be required to lose their jobs too.

The media has a lot to apologize for in its unfair treatment of Trump.  As the mistakes add up some think there should be a price paid for being so wrong so often.  Weigel's mistake was not as egregious as that of CNN in its recent claim of evidence of collusion with Wikileaks or Brian Ross's story about the Flynn plea deal.

But all three "mistakes" stem from the same mindset.  There are reporters who want to believe anything that makes Trump look bad.  They want it so bad they can taste it.  They want it so bad they fail to check for facts that might disprove their claims.  It is another reason why respect for the media continues to decline.

I do not recall there being this many mistakes in the reporting of the Watergate story.  Perhaps there were mistakes and those effected by them were not as effective as Trump is in fighting back.  Perhaps without Twitter, there were fewer avenues to break through the media monopoly on the story.

But there is something else the media is failing at.  Congressman Jim Jordon hit on it in questioning the FBI director.  A scandal bigger than Watergate is right under their noses and the media is focusing on a failed collusion narrative they are trying to pin on Trump while ignoring the collusion of the Democrat candidate and her party's work with Russian operatives to publish a bogus "dossier" that is then bootstrapped into an intelligence document that is then used to get a warrant for the government to spy on the opposition party.

That is far worse than Watergate ever was and the media is still desperately trying to ignore it.
