Iran makes disputed claim that Syria captured British special operations troops near Damascus

Daily Mail:
Fars claimed it was part of a plot involving 'terrorists and NATO forces' to attack Damascus.

The US, Israel and Jordan were to launch attacks 'from several fronts', the report claims, but 'rapid, major victories' by the Syrian army wrecked the plan.

Israel and the US were to use air strikes, it also claims, to help rebels 'capture vast areas of Damascus' and bring about the collapse of the Syrian regime.

The Ministry of Defence has been contacted for comment. However sources at the department told the Daily Mail the report coming out of Iran was untrue.
...
It does seem unlikely and could be an attempt to postpone the attacks by the US and its allies.  Iran is not above lying to achieve its objectives.

Other reports that Iran's currency is in a free fall.  I suspect this may be caused by the coming return of US sanctions against Iran as Trump abandons Obama and Kerry's bad deal on nukes.  It looks like Iran is much more vulnerable than those who support the bad deal thought.
